Overview

Also known as ARMD or AMD, it is an eye condition where a gradual loss of central vision occurs. ARMD can either be wet or dry. Dry macular degeneration is caused by the aging and thinning of the tissues of the macula, or depositing of pigments in the macula. Wet macular degeneration occurs when blood and fluid from blood vessels that grow beneath the retina leak and damage the retinal cells, thus resulting to blind spots in central vision.
